Game: Clifford The Big Red Dog Puppy Letters

Level: k-2

Summary of the Website: The pbs website is a fantastic website for children. There are so many interactive learning games that have to do with multiple subjects in school. They include Reading, Math, Science,Social Studies, Language Arts, environment games, and even exercise games. When you first see the website you greeted with a blue background. The child is able to click on the subject they want or even their favorite show that is on pbs kids. There are so many different games for each show and each topic.

Summary of the Game: I beleived this game was a very inspiring and educational game for a child who is in either kindergarten or first grade. You are given a sentence and then at the end of the sentence you need to complete the word. In the easier version the child is given the letter and has to choose the letter from the alphabet. In teh harder version the child has to choose the word that they believe fits in the given blanks.

Evaluation of the Game: I beleive that this was a very child friendly webstie and a child friendly game. the game is easy to use and there is a directions page before you start the game. This game helps children with vocabulary and sentence structure. For some studnets this game would be a challenge.

Color: The colors are very fun and exciting. They help draw in the students to the website. There are two characters from the show Clifford the Big Red Dog in the game. There are also different pictures of clifford in the game.

*Repetition: When you complete the sentence correctly one of the characters says great.

Talking Text: I personally love how the figures give positive feedback at the end of the game for example they say great. ALso before the child starts the game the computer reads the sentence aloud.

Visual Cues: There is a large yellow arrown ont he bottom of the paOnce they find all the verbs or nouns in their sentence, there is a green Next sign that indicated to go to the next round.

Mistakes: When the child palces the wrong tile in the box the game will not allow the student to palce the tile to go in the spot.

Rating: I like this game alot for children in kindergarten and first grade

Highlighted Cues: There is a large arrow on the bottom of the screen that is yellow When the kids are ready to move onto the next round a green Next button shows up and they can move on to the next ride.

Game: Bear's Skateboard Park

Level: K-3

Summary of Site: I enjoyed pbs kids website the most while doing some research. The colors on the page really draw the child in. Everything that is located ont he screen is able to be clicked on and leads the student to another page. There are very few words located on the homepage which is very helpful to young children who are just learning how to read. The child is able to click on the character that they enjoy the most, after they click on the character they are directed to a page that is just associated with that character. Each page was different in its own way but they contained music, pictures, and colors that are able to draw the child in.

Summary of Game: The game that I chose was Bear's skateboard Bear's Skateboard Park. This game helps children practice their sounds of words and spelling of words. The game gives the child a word that you need to spell. The child must steer the bear using the control arrows, to the letters he needs to form that word. Along the path there are multiple letters and the child must choose the correct letter that make up the word that is asked. If they choose the incorrect letter the bear slows down. Once the word is formed the bear reads the letters aloud and then the word that is formed. The child must complete five words and then the child progresses to the next round.

Evaluation: This website was designed for children and the education of children. I believe it is very age appropriate and the game is very interactive. The website draws children in by sound, color, and pictures. I chose Bear's Skateboard Park because it was educational and easy to use. Some of the games that i looked up were very educational and interactive but too hard for the age group. This game turned spelling into a fun and enjoyable activity. This game does a great job with drawing the child into the game.

Color: The colors in this game as well as the website were one of the factors that drew me in as well as the child. The colors were both bright and exciting. The website stood out to me the second that i clicked on it. The letters were all different colors in the game and this made each letter pop a different way.

Repetition: The music is always playing in the game as well as the website. The letters that the child collects are always said aloud and the word is repeated to them.

Talking Text: The directions for the game are first said aloud The word is said at the beginning and at the end when the child has collected all of the letters.

Visual Cues: Once the child finds a letter on the path that fits in the word, the letter is put it into a box that has the shadow of the letter in it. They are able to see what letters they have found and what letters they need to find.

Mistakes:If the child accidently clicks on the incorrect letter the bear tips side to side and a voice says oops. The child can hit as many incorrect letters as they want.

Rating:N/A

Highlighted Cues: N/A

Navigation: THe child does not navigate different pages in this game. They must navigate bear along the path using the arrows on the keyboard.

URL:http://www.cookie.com/kids/games/picture-sequence.htmlGame: Picture Sequence Level: 1-4Summary of the Website: THis was another one of my favorite websites that i found. There were a number of games for young children to do and there were a number of activities that they could do. There were a number of games that had to do with Mathematics, Language Arts, Science and History. There are many different colors and animation that is in this website and I feel as if thats a reason children become so engaged. The background is made up of school supplies, children, snow, schools, and busses. Each game that the child chooses, opens up into a large screen is is bursting with color and animation.Summary of the Game: The Game that I chose was called picture sequence. The child is given about three to five pictures and they must number the pictures int he order that they believe they would happen. The pictures are not in order. If a child placed the wrong number under a picture the number would not stay. They are timed to see how long it takes them to number the pictures and if they get all of the numbers correct they receive ten stars. As the student progresses some of the stories turn into nursery rhymes. Evaluation of the Game: I enjoyed this game because it works on students interpretations of pictures and it could also be a time for a student to explain what is going on in each picture. It can also be used for creating sentences. THere are many bright and vivid colors in this game that are able to draw the student in.Color: There are so many bright and vivid colors that draw the child into the game. The website as well has many different colors. The pictures that the child must number are in black in white, but that makes it easier for them to see. The background of the game is made up of numbers and letters that draw the child into learning.Repetition:Each time the child completed the story, the directions for the next story are exactly the same. The numbers are located on the bottom of the screen, and the child must click the number and drag it to the picture. The directions are always located on the screen before each round.Talking Text: There is text included in the game but only some of them can be spoken. The sentences are very simple sentences to read for younger children. The further the child makes it in the game, the harder the sentences get, which adds the speaker graphic.Visual Cues: The pictures are all put into a random order. The child must put the number to the corresponding pictures and if it is incorrect the number will go back to the original position.Mistakes: The game does not point out when the child makes a mistake they are given another chance to correct themselves.Rating:N/AHighlighted Cues: N/A Navigation Routine:To navigate through the game the child only has to use the mouse to click once on the picture and again to drop the picture.Click back and back:N/AClick and Drag: The student must click on the number and drag it to the corresponding picture.Click forward: N/ATeacher Rating:7
